Penny Graduates with a Masters

After two years of intense study with Falmouth University, Penny has achieved a Masters in Illustration, graduating in July 2023. Penny was awarded her Masters by Dawn French pioneering artist, award-winning actor, comedian and best selling novelist. Dawn gave an inspiring speech at her graduation reminding graduates on the BA and MA courses of their amazing journey at such an adverse time in this world. Her speech can be heard here, watch from 1 hour 52, for 5 mins:Dawn French speech to graduates

Also awarded at the ceremony with an honorary fellowship was Hew Locke Falmouth Alumni who graduated in 1988. Collecting his Fellowship award from chancellor Dawn French, he told graduates:

"I know the challenges that you’re facing seem immense. I believe the main thing is to just keep going. Don’t question too hard when you want to try some strange, new direction, just do it. Make connections with other artists...make the work your friend, as it’s my friend.  I wish you all and your friends (and your art friend) the very, very best for the future..."

Penny enjoyed the day immensely and it felt especially important to be celebrating the day with her husband, two teenage daughters and her university peers and mentors, tutors and professors.See Penny Graduate
