Workshop Booking and course information overview
Workshops take place in Penny’s home and studio spaces. Recently renovated, the beautiful inside and outside the spaces will inspire you and give you a guided experience with fun and learning.
You will be well looked after and enjoy both the space and the hospitality as well as the social, fun elements that learning in art brings.
Workshop content and information
Lino Printing £ 45
3 hour workshop to learn about and explore the Lino printing process, you will have the opportunity experiment, learn through making and then you will have time to design your own Lino print and produce a limited or open edition set of prints.
Suitable for beginners or those who have printed before. You will practice the making process including the design, experimental mark making, different printing processes and cutting techniques as well as insight into single and multi layer/colour printing.
All equipment is provided including Lino tools, lino material, the preparation materials, inks and papers. You are welcome to bring some images you would like to re create or select from resources provided.
You will also be offered light refreshments in case you’re rushing in from work, and I guarantee a fun and sociable learning experience in a gorgeous environment.
Drawing £30
Held in the beautiful workshop and studio spaces of Penny’s home this introduces you to a variety of experimental drawing techniques to help your develop your own visual language. You will explore traditional and less conventional materials and techniques.
Drawing exercises will help you to build your confidence, you will be shown how to try conventional and alternative approaches to drawing and using unorthodox materials. This workshop will help you to feel able to express yourself authentically and encourage you to improve your existing drawing skills. It will be a lot of fun, erase any nerves and help a beginner as well as a more experienced artist expand their mark making arsenal.
All equipment is provided including mixed medias and papers and inspo resources and a variety of levels of challenge.
Suitable for both artists looking to refine their drawing skills and budding artists. 3 hours. Light refreshments included. Fun guaranteed.
Cyanotype I Contact materials £49
Join Penny for this adventure into the early Photographic technique, Cyanotype. This environmentally friendly cyanotype photography workshop will show you how to prepare the chemical emulsion, how to apply it to surfaces and the types of paper that are suitable for cyanotypes.
You will experiment with planning processes and the design of compositions using contact materials including nature and paper.Most of all you will see that cyanotype brings many surprises and when control is harnessed can bring the most beautiful and satisfying results.
All materials provided including objects, chemistry, papers and light sources. If you have any imagery you would like to use for inspiration please do bring it along.
The workshop will include a light refreshment break and will last approximately 3 hours 18:00 til 21:00.
Relief Printing £ 39
3 hour workshop to learn about and explore some relief printing processes, you will have the opportunity experiment, learn through making and then you will have time to plan and design your own print/s
Suitable for beginners or those who have printed before. You will practice the making process including the planning, experimental mark making, different relief printing processes and techniques as well as insight into single and multi layer/colour printing.
All equipment is provided including plants and flowers (feel free to bring your own along too) inks and papers.
You will also be offered sweet and savoury light refreshments and a glass of bubbly or a cuppa. Fun atmosphere guaranteed in a gorgeous relaxing and sociable environment.
Pinhole photography £ 44
Pinhole is such a magical (and science based) process
As part of the workshop you will learn a brief history behind the evolution of photography and how the pinhole camera works. You will make your own pinhole camera, use day light to record your own images, take a selfie, direct and shoot others in the group and/or still life or landscapes.
Pinhole photography is a couple of hundred years old and yet still inspiring new generations to record and make new images using this early technique.
All equipment is provided
You will also be offered sweet and savoury light refreshments and a glass of bubbly or a cuppa. Fun atmosphere guaranteed in a gorgeous relaxing and sociable environment.
Cyanotype II experimental £ 49
This is a progression on the cyanotype (I) workshop, but it is not essential for you to have any experience or to have attended the first workshop, essentially the approaches will be a little more creative, personal and more experimental.
As well as contact materials provided you will be given the opportunity to create and plan a digitally cyanotype, which will enable you to make a modern image with all the beautiful detail with the finesse of analogue photography.
Cyanotype is a beautiful process using sunlight but we will also have synthetic light if the sun isn’t strong enough on the day.
You will also be offered sweet and savoury light refreshments and a glass of bubbly or a cuppa. Fun atmosphere guaranteed in a gorgeous relaxing and sociable environment.
